Purchase AHEC is committed to provide learning resources for health care professionals. We work to develop programs that provide continuing education opportunities which include conferences, interactive/satellite downlink conferences, and medical research assistance.

AHEC is pleased to provide these services to increase the retention of health care professionals in our area by improving opportunities for professional growth.

Continuing Medical Education
Purchase AHEC, in conjunction with the University of Louisville Continuing Health Sciences Education department, can assist in coordinating the approval and delivery of local continuing medical education programs (ACCME). Assistance is available with all aspects of CME delivery, from designing & implementing staff surveys to the final details of coordinating the presentations. Programs can be planned based upon physicians' needs and at times that are convenient to their schedules.

Continuing education courses are also coordinated for dentists, dental hygienists, and assistants, with credit secured through the Kentucky Board of Dentistry.

Medical Research
Assistance is available to health care students and professionals with medical research and interlibrary loans. AHEC has access to databases & on-line full text of many professional journals through the University of Louisville, University of Kentucky and through the National Library of Medicine.

NCME Video Training Series®
The Purchase Area Health Education Center (AHEC) subscribes to the NCME Video Training Series and provides this service free of charge to area physicians and hospitals. Contact the education department at your affiliate hospital for information on activating your account. Contact Terri Gipson for further details


NCME programs fulfill the requirements for:
AMA (American Medical Association) Category 1 towards the Physician's Recognition Award
AAPA (American Academy of Physician Assistants)
AOA (American Osteopathic Association) Category 2A
AAFP (American Academy of Family Physicians) Prescribed Hours.
