What is a Student Security Code?





A student security code is an eight digit system generated alpha numeric number.  All MSU students will be assigned a security code and the code must be presented along with their social security number to obtain financial information via the telephone.





The Security Code is NOT VALID for academic information (grades, schedule, transcripts and etc..)

Where can I find my Security Code?





The security code will be located on your PIN system:  http://www.murraystate.edu/pinlogin/htm and select "View Account Information."

How can I change my Security Code?





Visit the Cashier's Office, 2nd floor of Sparks Hall. You must have your Student ID Card and sign a request form.  Your new Security Code will be found on your PIN account.

Why is the Security Code needed?





MSU is required by federal and state law to protect your personal information.  The security code will help ensure that the staff can provide account information to parents or students over the phone.  The student must provide the security code to parents, grandparents or spouse if they wish for them to have access to account information by phone.

What if I elect not to use the security code?





Account information may not be request by telephone.  The student may request information:





a.
In person by presenting your MSU ID card to the Cashier's Office, 2nd floor of Sparks Hall
b.
In writing to Murray State University, Bursar's Office, 200 Sparks Hall, Murray, KY 42071-3312.  Please include your name, social security number, requested information and mailing address
c.
By fax request at (270) 809-2273.  please include your name, social security number, requested information and mailing address along with a copy of your MSU ID card
