Archaeological field school in the Land Between the Lakes, 2008

The Murray State University Archaeology Laboratory is part of the Mid-America Remote Sensing Center (MARC), located in Blackburn Hall on the Murray State campus. Our mission incorporates several areas of service:

  • Training for MSU students and volunteers
  • Curation of archaeological collections from western Kentucky and other MSU research
  • A library of archaeology publications and cultural resource management reports
  • Research

In addition, we host community and professional services, including:

  • the Archaeological Services Center
  • the annual MSU Archaeological Field School
  • the Symposium on Ohio Valley Urban and Historic Archaeology and Ohio Valley Historical Archaeology
  • the Journal of Kentucky Archaeology
