About this issue

We are pleased to present the third issue of the Journal of Kentucky Archaeology.  It is a single issue, counting as Volume 2 Numbers 1-2.  We were nearly despairing of having a Volume 2, but happily received some submissions in time for a Spring 2013 volume.

The issue includes a paper by James Krakker which, among other things, demonstrates the value of curated collections.  Stephen Mocas adds to our database for Middle Woodland pottery and puts it into regional perspective.  My own paper continues analysis of Wickliffe Mounds, and constitutes a bit of a milestone since it was 30 years ago that Murray State University accepted the donation of the site and collections.  We thank Berle Clay for an extra-MSU review of the latter paper.

We feel that this journal fulfills a need in Kentucky archaeology, to disseminate reports and data, raise ideas, stimulate discussion, and help establish an identify for the community of archaeologists in Kentucky.  We cannot do it without submissions, so consider this a call for submissions for Volume 3.
