  • Presents arguments in a logical order
  • Uses acceptable style and grammar (no errors)
  • Provides a complete and reasonable justification for each ethic
  • Each ethic meets the formal conditions for a normative principle
  • Demonstrates complete understanding of the topic and relevant ethical issues
  • Addresses several arguments  for and against a conclusion and backs conclusion, and each argument for and against, with examples and data
  • Demonstrates understanding of text readings through integration of relevant information into arguments
  • All references cited in the correct format
  • Quality (6 pts.) Above average, strong essay but lacks the depth of an excellent essay
     
  • Combination of above components, but less consistently represented (1 - 2 errors)
  • Still accurate, but less thorough
  • Same as above, but uses only one or two arguments to address stated ethics and conclusions
  • Integrates only one or two aspects of the text readings

  • Uses a small subset of possible ideas to support and refute arguments
  • Needs Improvement (2 pts.) Below average, little interest of effort demonstrated
