Introduction to Levers
Why use physics in Comparative Anatomy? All matter is subject to the
laws of physics, and by using these tools we can understand how living
things are able to move and grow within these constraints. Why memorize
all the bones and muscles of living organisms if we can’t explain how these
anatomical structures use energy to direct force and movement? This site
explores the basics of how bone and muscle attachment facilitate movement
of the body, and the ways that different organisms’ bodies display various
lever systems that accomplish movement.
