Pectoral Girdle Notes
- The postcleithrum (17) is a small bone situated caudally to the cleithrum/supracleithrum junction. It can not be seen clearly in the diagram.
- The cleithrum (18) serves as the anchor for the pectoral fin.
- The pectoral girdle of the Amia is composed entirely of dermal bone and is charicteristic of primitive fish, in that it is still anchored to the skull (posttemporal/supracleithrum articulation).
