In the advanced biochemistry courses, students (groups or individual) chose a particular protein and search for noncovalent interactions between amino-acid side chains or between side chains and bound ligands.  In these special projects, students have used RasMol, RasTop or Protein Explorer to search for the interactions.  At the end of the semester, the students gave presentations to the class using the molecular visualization software.
