The history of any culture includes the passing along of tradition and custom from parent to child. Some of these traditions are subtle, many not so subtlethey all have a surprising impact on the kind of adult the child becomes.
When these traditions are written down onto paper and published in book form, we have the opportunity to look back 30 years on the traditions of that time and respond. How we as people and artists have incorporated those traditions into our lives, and how we have rejectedor revolted againstothers is the theme of this project.
It is our intention and hope that the artwork included in this portfolio will address themes of gender, the expectations of individuals based on gender, and ultimately how those gender expectations can be represented in visual form.
The portfolio of prints will be exhibited at the Invited Conference Portfolio Session of the SGC Meeting.
