The continually rewarding process of working wood is a joy because of the inherent warmth and beauty of the material. I find that I have a strong interest in industry and architecture, fascinated by both the fanciful and bizarre architecture of the Baroque period, but also that of common buildings; finding that even the simplest form, when well executed, has not only function but a beauty that is to be appreciated for is lack of boldness more than anything else. Structure and special interaction are important to me in the design of a piece, taking some notes from Op art. Creating patterning that is both as traditional as it is contemporary. Utilizing contrasting woods and unusual designs, a sense of perspective is created that calls into question common design. Though most attracted to traditional furniture, I find that most of my works grab a little bit of many traditional styles, fused together into on contemporary work, which no matter the scale, maintains a s level of intricacy, yet is still highly functional.
