Miranda Barnes

I have been drawing and painting since I was old enough to hold a pen and brush. I created art for the fun of it but I never saw the potential to make a living with my work. I did not begin thinking seriously about using my talent as a means of income, not just recreation, until I started college and took my first graphic design course. Since then I have been hooked with the idea of being a graphic artist.

My art is a personal expression of who I am. I am influenced by everything I see; not just one single person but every poster, book cover and painting. Specific examples are the works of Kyle Cooper, Emily Oberman and Rita Marshall. The intentions of my graphic artistry is to simply place myself in control, to make art that communicates feelings and moods and pulls those same responses from all who take the time to view and inspect those pieces.

My artwork is like the window to my soul. I express my own personal feelings and emotions through my work; an outlet for my anger, pain, remorse, etc. My art is my personal punching bag and though it may take a beating or two, it has the potential to emerge a stronger piece in the end.
