| Small tree (20-40' high, 8-15' diameter). Leaves are alternate and simple, oval, 3-5" in length, unlobed or deeply 1-3 lobed, margins coarsely serrate, dark blue-green above, paler below with hairs and hairy veinlets. Fruit is a stony fruit, juicy, united with other fruits resembling a blackberry, 1-1.25" long, oblong and edible. Bark is thin, dark brown tinged with red, scaly and furrowed. Habitat is rich and moist sites. |
