| Easily distinguished from Shagbark Hickory when bark is compared. 60-70' tall. 5-7 (usually 5) leaflets. Narrow crown formed from small spreading branches. Slender branchlets with terminal buds less than one-half inch in length. The fruit (1"-1.5" long) has a thin shell and a thin hull that is usually not split. The bark is tight and usually fissured in older tree trunks. |
