Eastern Gray Squirrel

 
 

Medium-sized (14"-21") tree squirrel with gray back, white underparts, and white edges on tail.  Gray squirrels are found throughout the eastern half of the U.S., living in dense hardwood forests, especially along river bottoms.  They prefer cavities or leaf nests, and feed on nuts, seeds, and berries.
