| Bass can be distinguished by side patterns and jaw morphology. This species is greenish-brown-bronze above (often called bronzebacks), dusky silver below, often with dark vertical bars. Upper jaw ends beneath eye. A river species, but also inhabits lakes. Jumps when caught while fishing. |
