Sturgeons are primitive fish, with a heterocercal tail. cartiligenous skeleton and bony plates along head and body. they all have a sucker-like mouth underneath the protruding snout, which allows them to efficiently feed on the bottom. Some species can attain huge sizes of over a ton, and some are anadromous when along the coasts. Sturgeons are well-know producers of caviar. |
