| 2.5”-5” long, large toad with light stripe down middle of back, yellow to greed to brown with blotched back. Prominent cranial crests contact parotoid glands, and has 3 or more warts per dorsal spot (use to distinguish from American Toad). Voice: like the bleat of a sheep with a cold. Found in sandy areas near marshes, backyards, and temporary pools. This is a subspecies of Woodhouse’s toad. Primarily nocturnal. Breeds in March to August, and lays strings of eggs. |
