MESSAGE: 5/12

The course is over, the final grades are in!

The final exam did not turn out that great - you can see the solutions and statistics on the 'Scores and Solutions' page.  I suppose studying for a whole semester's worth of material is not easy.  In spite of this, most people got the final grade they expected, if not better.

I enjoyed having all of you in class and hope to see you in another course!  Special thanks to the people who regularly participated in class discussion!

Everyone have a great summer!

MESSAGE: 5/1

Exam 5 turned out OK, but everyone needs to take another look at series for the final exam.  Scores and solutions are now posted on the usual page.

Take home exam 6 will be handed out tomorrow and you will turn it in on Monday by noon.  I will grade it immediately and you can pick it up at 4PM.

We will only have time to cover section 11 up to 11.10.  Therefore, on the final exam, you are responsible only for the material up to and including 11.10.

MESSAGE: 4/24

Exam 5 is scheduled for Monday, 4/28.  It will cover sections 11.1-11.7.

Here is the plan for the remainder of the semester: next week we will cover a few more sections from chapter 11.
On Friday, the last day of classes (5/2), you will get a take-home exam (which counts as exam 6) that will cover the material of next week.  You will turn it back in on Monday. I will grade it and you can pick it up later on Monday in order to have it back before the final exam.  The final exam will cover everything from the course, so you may find feedback from exam 6 useful.  Check the link at left to see the time of our final exam.

On the take-home exam you may consult your book and notes, but you are not allowed to work with anyone else.  If I discover that the work on this exam is not your own, I will take points off.

MESSAGE: 4/3

Sorry for the late update, but you should have already heard about this in class.  Anyway: exam 4 is scheduled for tomorrow, 4/4 and it is over chapter 10.

MESSAGE: 3/13

Exam 3 turned out OK, but could have been better.  The material was, after all, pretty easy.  You can find the scores and solutions on the usual page.

Homework for chapter 10 is now posted.  Look at 10.1 and 10.2 over the break.  Expect exam 4 - over chapter 10 -  to be the second week of classes after spring break.

MESSAGE: 3/6

Exam 3 is scheduled for Tuesday, 3/11.  It will be over 9.1-9.5.  Some review problems from the end of the chapter have been added to the homework list.  We will review for the exam on Monday.

Chapter 9 is short and mostly easy so now is a good opportunity to beef up those weak exam scores from exam 2.  See me for office hours if you need help.  Solutions to exam 2 have now been posted.

MESSAGE: 2/27

Exam 2 did not turn out that great (see 'Scores and solutions").  I think everyone agrees that it was a touch too long.  Therefore, I am allowing everyone to turn in the problem Bonus 2 from the exam by Monday as homework and get up to 5 extra points toward your exam.  You may consult with others on this problem.  Solutions to the exams will be posted once the bonus problem is turned in.

Homework for Chapter 9 is now posted.  Notice this is a short chapter, so an exam over it is coming soon.  Old homework has moved to the 'Old homework' link.

MESSAGE: 2/18

By popular demand, exam 2 is rescheduled for Tuesday, 2/25.  It will cover chapter 7 and sections 8.1 and 8.2.  As before, the problems on the exam will be like those done in class and assigned for homework, although I expect there will be fewer of them (e.g. 7or 8) since each might take a longer while.  In short, the test is over integration techniques.  Calculators will be allowed for the exam, but you are not allowed to use any features that integrate symbolically.  I have selected some problems from the end-of-chapter review if you need additional problems - you may find them on the homework list.  I did this only for chapter 7, for 8.1 and 8.2 look at the homework.

Homework is posted through the end of chapter 6.  You should look at the homework once we cover the section in question, but you are welcome to work on it in advance as well.  At the moment of writing, you should have done 6.1 and 6.2.

Our first exam, covering chapter 6 is planned for the Monday or Tuesday of the week after next (thus, 1/27 or 1/28)
