Home, 1/2

It took a little while, but here is a wrap-up of our pages. The course is finished, the grades are in!

You can see all the scores and solutions on the "scores and docs" page. Keep in mind final exam score average is significantly lower, because the best students don't take the final.

I thoroughly enjoyed teaching this class - you were my best Calculus 1 class in recent memory! Thanks to everyone for participation in working homework on the board - you make my job easier this way!

Have a good rest of the break!

The final exam will take place on Wednesday at 10:30 in our usual classrooms. It will be comprehensive and will consist of problems like you have already seen on the 5 exams. Therefore, start preparing for the final by making sure you can do all the problems on the exams we have had so far. Check out the sample final exam as well. Note that all exams are available blank on the "scores and docs" page.

If you need to see me, schedule for office hours next week is as follows:

Monday, 10:00-1:30; Tuesday, 10:00-12:00 and 2:30-4:00; Wednesday, 9:00-10:30

Good luck on finals!

Exam 5, covering sections 4.7, Appendix B, 5.1-5.3 and 5.5, is scheduled for Friday. Check out sample exam 5 in the usual place. By Sunday following the exam I will have your course grades, so you can decide whether to take the final exam.

On Monday, we will finish section 5.2, with discussion of homework in sections 5.1 and 5.2 occuring Tuesday and due Wednesday.

Have a good Thanksgiving holiday!

After the exam, you may relax... a little ... for homework for sections 4.7 and appendix B is due on Monday. On Monday, we start topics in chapter 5.

Incidentally, in your email, you received an invitation to evaluate this course. I encourage you to do this evaluation and give feedback on my work.

On Monday, we will start some new material. Homework in section 4.5 is due on Tuesday. (The significant part of class that did not show up on Friday can turn in homework for 4.3 and 4.4 on Monday.)

Exam 4, covering sections 4.1-4.5, is scheduled for next week, Thursday or Friday - we still have to make a firm decision. Check out sample exam 4.

Home, 11/8

On Monday, we will discuss homework over sections 4.3 and 4.4. (There is no need to lecture over section 4.4, because it is just a recap of the techniques we learned already.)

Expect exam 4 during the week after next.

Exam 1 turned out pretty well. See solutions on the "scores and docs page.

On Monday, we will discuss homework from section 2.2. Write-ups for sections 2.1 and 2.2 are due on Tuesday.

Home, 9/13

Exam 1, covering sections 1.3-1.6 is scheduled for Tuesday. On Monday, we will wrap up section 2.1 and there will be some time (but not the whole class) to ask questions ahead of the exam.

You can find a sample exam on the "scores and docs" page - check out sample exam 1. The exam will resemble the sample exam in the sense that it will cover the same ideas, but do not expect that I will just change the numbers. For a good self-test, time yourself and try to do the exam in 50 minutes. If you find it takes you too long to complete the exam, more studying is in order. See me for office hours if you need help.

Welcome to the course! Look around to familiarize yourself with the layout of these webpages. To get to other pages, click on "choose..." and select the page. The most often-used pages are near the top of the menu.

All documents (homework assignment, problem farm, etc.) can be found at the "scores and docs" page. A link to the often-used document homework is at the bottom of the list.

These pages will get more content as information becomes available. Check back often: useful information is provided in the "home" section (which you are reading), typically updated weekly.
