Exam 3 turned out pretty well. You can see the statistics and the solutions in the usual place.

The final exam is on Thursday at 10:30. The final exam replaces your weakest exam grade if it is better. To find out whether you should take the final, find out your grade first (I either gave it to you already, or you can email me from your murraystate account to get it), and then check with the grade computer to see what you would need to make on the final in order to get a better grade.

The final exam will be much like our regular exams, only 50% longer (6 pages instead of 4). The best way to start preparing for a final exam is to make sure you can do all the problems on our  past exams. The problems on the final will be very much like those problems. All the blank exams are available on the website, along with their solutions. If you need help with anything, come to see me during office hours (make an appointment if you cannot make it during the hours below).

Finals week office hour schedule

Monday 9:00-10:30 & 1:00-3:00
Tuesday 10:30-3:00
Wednesday 1:00-3:00
Thursday 9:00-10:30

Good luck with finals!

Exam 3 is scheduled for Wednesday. It will cover sections 6.3, 6.4, 7.1-7.6. Check out sample exam 3 in the usual place.

I will have grade the exams and have the final grades ready by Friday, so you can decide whether to take the final exam on Thursday of finals week (recall it replaces your weakest exam grade, but only if it is better).

For Monday, work on homework in 7.5 and 7.6.

Home, 4/20

Homework in 7.3 has been assigned. On Monday we may discuss it, if we have enough time after working on 7.4.

Home, 4/13

No assignment is imminently due, but you can start working on 7.1.

Home, 4/6

Write-ups over sections 4.4, 6.1 and 6.2 are due on Monday. After that, I expect we'll go over homework in 6.3 and 6.4 on Wednesday, with the write-ups due on Friday.

Home, 3/30

Exam 2 is scheduled for Wednesday. It will cover sections 3.4-3.6, 4.1, 4.2, 4.4, 6.1 and 6.2. Check out sample exam 2 as you prepare for the exam.

Home, 3/16

We finished section 4.4 today, and it was assigned for homework. We plan to discuss in on Wednesday after the break. Exam 2 is likely to follow the next week.

Have a great spring break!

Home, 3/9

Homework over 3.5 and 3.6 is due on Monday.

I anticipate exam 2 to happen after spring break, but not the first week after.

The grade computer has been updated to reflect the grade structure in this course (previously it was just a copy of a prior semester's course).

Home, 3/2

Write-ups over 3.3 and 3.4 have been delayed to be due on Monday. Problem 2ad in the write-up assignment for 3.4 does not exist, it is a misprint of 20ad (it has been corrected on the homework sheet).

Home, 2/24

Exam 1 turned out quite well. Check out the statistics on the "scores and solutions" page. You can also find the solutions to the exam there.

Work on homework in 3.4. Write-ups for sections 3.3 and 3.4 will be due on Friday.

Home, 2/17

Exam 1 is scheduled for Wednesday, 2/22. It will cover sections 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.1 and 3.1-3.3. On Monday we will dicuss some homework from 3.3 (go over it this weekend).

Home, 2/10

Write-ups for homework in 3.1 and 3.2 will be due next week, most likely Friday. Week after that, I am anticipating our first exam, to cover sections up to 3.3.

Home, 2/3

Work on homework in 2.1 and 2.2 for Monday. Write-ups over these will be due on Wednesday.

Home, 1/27

Write-ups for 1.1 and 1.2 are due on Monday.

Today I uploaded some sample exams to the "scores and docs" page. They are good guides for what may come up on our exams.

Welcome to the course!  Look around to familiarize yourself with the layout of these webpages.  Note that the most important links at right are highlighted.  All documents (homework assignment, solutions to exams, etc.) can be found at the "scores and documents" page.

These pages will get more content as information becomes available.  Check back often: useful information is provided in the "home" section (which you are reading), typically updated weekly.  Homework assignments will be updated when we start a new chapter.
