The course is over, the final grades are in! You can view the statistics for the final exam as well as for the overall grades in the course. All the solutions are on the usual page. If you took the final exam, you can email me to find out your score.

I enjoyed teaching these two sections of the course! Thanks to everyone who participated in discussion, homework-problem solving and asking questions - you always make my job easier!

Have a great summer!

Exam 4 came out OK - see the statistics and find the solutions in the usual place.

The final exam is comprehensive, and the best way to study for it is to go over all of our exams to make sure you can do them. The problems on the final will be very much like those problems (and all formulas will be provided). There will be 6 pages on the final. Also, check out the sample final - all problems are fair game except for 3e.

If you don't have your final grade, email me from your Murray State account to get it, so you can decide whether to take the final.

If you need to see me, my office hours for next week are:

Mon 9:30-10:30 and 1:00-3:00
Tue 12:30-4:30
Wed  9:30-10:30 and 12:30-1:30

Good luck on finals!

Exam 4, covering sections 15.1, 14.1-14.3 is scheduled for Thursday. We will set a time on Friday for you to get back your exams and final grades, so that you can decide whether to take the final exam. Check out sample exam 4, problems 1, 5ab, 6 and bonus for an idea what the exam might have on it.

Since we lost a day of class this week, the due date of Joysheet 10 (our last one) has been moved to Tuesday of next week. Homework in 15.1 has been assigned, but you are advised to look at sections 14.1-14.3 as well.

Home, 4/22

Exam 3 will be graded by Tuesday. We started a new chapter on Thursday, and I already gave out Joysheet 10 over these topics. It is due on Thursday of next week. You can pick it up on Tuesday, or download it from the "complete joysheets" file.

Our last exam will be on the last day of class (Thursday of the last week). I will grade it that evening and will give your grades on Friday, so you can determine whether to come for the final exam.

The list of homework problems for our newest sections will be up soon.

Home, 4/15

Exam 3 is planned for Tuesday, 4/19, covering sections 13.3-13.7. If you turned in your Joysheet 9 by today, you can pick it up graded on Monday. If you still need to turn it in, Monday by 5PM will be the latest before it is considered late.

Come by for office hours if you have questions on the material. On Monday, I will not be in the office 2:30-3:30 due to an appointment, but will be back 3:30-5:00.

Home, 4/8

On Thursday, I handed out Joysheets 8 and 9, which are due on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively. If you weren't there, you can pick them up by visiting my office, or downloading them (they are in "complete joysheets").

Exam 3 is planned for Tuesday, 4/19. Check out sample exam 3 for some practice problems.

As we near the end of the semester final grades are on everyone's mind. Use the grade computer on this website to see how well you need to do in order to get a desired grade.

Home, 4/1

Exam 2 will be graded over the weekend. If anyone is thinking of withdrawing or switching to audit, and would like to know how they did in exam 2 before they make a decision, email me, and I will let you know on Sunday.

Homework for chapter 13 has been posted. Sections 13.3 and 13.4 have been assigned for Tuesday.

Home, 3/25

Exam 2 is planned for Tuesday, 3/29, covering sections 12.1-12.7.

Sample exam 2 has some practice problems: all may come up on our exam except for problem 4. See me for help on Monday and Tuesday if you are having difficulty with any of the material.

All the joysheets turned in by Friday will be graded by Monday, if you would like to pick them up. Joysheet 7 is due on Monday and will be available for pick-up on Tuesday. Solutions for joysheets are available up to joysheet 6 now, and number 7 will be available on Monday evening.

Home, 3/14

Exam 2 is planned for Tuesday, 3/29. It will cover sections 12.1-12.7. Check out sample exam 2 for some practice problems.

Joysheet 6, distributed yesterday, is due on Tuesday after spring break, and there will be another joysheet before the exam. You can download it in "scores and docs".

Have a great spring break!  (But don't forget to think a little about probability!)

Home, 3/7

Exam 1 turned out average. You can see the scores and look at the solutions on the "scores and docs" page. Solutions to assigned joysheets have now been updated (Joysheet 4 has been missing for a while).

Joysheet 5 is due on Tuesday, and I expect to give you one on Tuesday to turn in on Thursday.

Home, 2/25

Homework for chapter 12 has been posted. So far, homework for 12.1 and 12.2 has been assigned.

Home, 2/18

Exam 1 is scheduled for Tuesday of next week. See the previous message for details on this exam. Note that the sample exams do not have examples like problems in section 11.2, but those will appear on our exam.

If you would like to have your Joysheet 4 back before the exam, or need some help with the material, stop by my office on Monday. I will also be in the office before our exam on Tuesday for any last-minute questions.

Home, 2/11

Exam 1, covering sections 11.1-11.6 has been scheduled for Tuesday, 2/22. Check out the sample exam 1 on the "scores and docs" page to get an idea of what it might look like. The exam was moved back from my first idea of when to have it because we did not cover enough ground last week.

Next week, Joysheet 3 is due on Tuesday and Joysheet 4 is due on Thursday. I will have both of these graded before the exam.

Check out the grade distributions on the joysheets so far on the "scores and docs" page! Some of you could be doing better: look at the solutions to see how your answers could improve or stop by for office hours to get some help ahead of the exam.

Home, 2/4

We have covered 11.6 and homework for this section has been assigned for Tuesday.

Joysheet 1 solutions can be found on the "scores and docs" page.  Many of you could use going over using their calculators, so check what you did wrong on joysheet 1. I am sorry I did not post it last night, as promised.

Joysheet 2 was collected on Thursday - if you have not handed one in, get it to me as soon as possible (you may leave it at my office).

Home, 1/28

Homework has been assigned from 11.1 to 11.3 so far. We will go over 11.3 in class on Tuesday. Make sure to go over additional problems that are on the sheet I handed out on Thursday.  (If you did not get one, you can find it under "homework")

Also, Joysheet 2 was handed out, to be turned in on Thursday of next week. You can find it on the "scores and docs" page, under "blank joysheets", or pick it up on Tuesday.  If you have not turned in Joysheet 1 on Thursday make sure you get it to me as soon as possible.

Home, 1/25

Our first assignment is out!  The calculator exercise Joysheet 1 has been handed out in class today and is due on Thursday (usually I plan to allow a longer turnaround time for these, but this is a simple one).  If you were not in class, you can find the joysheet in "scores and docs" under "complete blank joysheets" at bottom of page.

Welcome to the course!  Look around to familiarize yourself with the layout of these webpages.  Note that the most important links at left are highlighted.  All documents (homework assignment, solutions to exams, etc.) can be found at the "scores and documents" page.

These pages will get more content as information becomes available.  Check back often: useful information is provided in the "home" section (which you are reading), typically updated weekly.
