Thanks to everyone for being a good class!  Special thanks to people who participated in class: this is always a great deal of help when I teach.

Everyone have a great summer!

Home, 5/4

Exam 4 turned out well.  Good job, class!

The final exam is scheduled for Thursday, 5/10, at 10:30 in our usual classroom.  Recall that the final exam replaces your weakest exam grade, if it is better.  Therefore, there is nothing to lose by taking the final.  Even if you are unsure if you will have enough on the final to bring your grade up, you should take it.  It is also a good idea to turn in homework in sections 7.2-7.6: it will help your score!

The final exam will have 70 points and 6 pages (so, longer than our usual exam).  Problems on it will be like problems on exams we had so far.  Thus, the best way to study for the final exam is to make sure you can do all the problems on the previous exams.

On the "scores and solutions" page, you can find solutions to all our previous exams, as well as blank exams (practice on those!).  If any are missing, let me know as soon as possible!

If you have any questions, I will be in the office during the following times next week:

Day Office hours
Final exam times
Monday 9:30-10:30
12:30-3:00

Exam 3 is scheduled for Wednesday of next week.  It will cover sections 6.3, 6.4 and 7.1-7.4.

I will have the exam graded by Friday and will give you your overall course scores then, so you can decide whether you need to come for the final exam.

We also plan to cover sections 7.5 and 7.6 on Friday, which will appear on the final exam.

For homework, turn in 7.2-7.4 next Friday.  The write-ups for 7.5 and 7.6 will be treated as extra credit (their scores will be added to your total if you turn them in, but the maximum number of points will be based only on homework up to 7.4.)

Homework up to 7.3 has been assigned.  We will work on some homework in 7.2 and 7.3 on Monday, as well as go over 7.4.

Home, 4/20

Exam 2 turned out better than the first one, but there is still room for improvement.  Scores and solutions can be found in the usual place.

Homework from 6.4 and 7.1 will be due on Wednesday of next week.  We'll discuss this homework on Monday.

Home, 4/13

Homework from 6.2 and 6.3 is due on Wednesday of next week.  We'll discuss 6.3 on Monday.

Home, 4/6

Exam 2 is scheduled for Wednesday, 4/10.  It will cover sections 3.4-3.6, 4.1, 4.2, 4.4, 6.1, 6.2.  Problems will be similar to those given for homework or worked on in class.

We will use Monday to look over homework in 6.2 as well as answer any questions before the exam.

Home, 3/16

Homework over 4.1 and 4.2 is due on Wednesday, 3/28.

We'll have an exam after sections 6.1 and 6.2 are finished (what is coming up next).  Therefore, expect exam 2 during the week 4/2-4/6.

Have a great spring break!

Home, 3/9

Homework over 3.5 and 3.6 is due on Monday, 3/12.

I expect to have problems for the next batch of homework up soon.

Home, 3/2

Homework over 3.3 and 3.4 is due on Monday, 3/5.

Home, 2/23

Exam 1 will be returned next week.

We started 3.4 today.  No homework has been assigned, but you may start looking at the problems in that section.

Home, 2/16

Exam 1, covering sections up to 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2, 3.1-3.3 is now scheduled  for Wednesday, 2/21.  Problems on the exam will be like those discussed in class and those given for homework.  Many will be just computational, but a part of the exam will also be theretical problems, such as true/false problems given for homework.

On Monday, we'll go over some homework in 3.3 and any questions you may have about the exam.  Stop by for office hours if you have any trouble with the material.

Home, 2/8

Write-up homework over 3.1 and 3.2 is due on Wednesday.

We are planning exam 1, covering sections up to 3.3, for Monday, 2/19.

Make sure you stop by for office hours next week if you are having trouble with any of the material.

Home, 2/2

Write-up homework over 2.1 and 2.2 is due on Wednesday.

Expect exam 1 to be sometime during the week after next.  It will cover sections up to 3.3.

Home, 1/26

Write-up homework over 1.1 and 1.2 is due on Monday.

Free tutoring information and the grade computer have been updated.

Home, 1/19

Homework was assigned over 1.1.  Come with any questions over homework on Monday.

The first homework to be turned in will be over 1.1 and 1.2.  Since we haven't finished 1.2, I have yet to tell you when the turn-in portion of this homework is due (most likely next Friday - stay tuned).

Welcome to the course!  Look around to familiarize yourself with the layout of the webpage.  Note that the most important links are highlighted.

These pages will get more content as the semester progresses.  Check back often: useful  infomation is provided in the 'home' section (which you are reading), typically updated weekly.  Homework assignments will be updated when we start a new chapter.
