The course is over, the final grades are in!  (See the overall statistics on the "scores and solutions" webpage.  Almost everyone who took the final exam improved their grade.)

It has been a good class!  Special thanks to everyone who participated in class discussion and came to class prepared!

Happy holidays and have a wonderful winter break!

Exam 4 turned out fair.  See scores and solutions on the usual webpage.

The final exam is scheduled for Thursday, 12/13 at 10:30 AM in our usual classroom.  The final exam is comprehensive and it replaces your lowest exam grade, if it is better.  (Thus, if you are happy with the score you have after our four exams, you don't have to take the final.)  It will have 6 pages and you will have 2 hours for it.

All our blank exams and worksheets and solutions are now posted.  Use them to practice for the final, which will have problems much like we already had on exams.

I will be in the office Mon-Wed 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM, if you need some help or need to see me.

Good luck on final exams!

Next week is last, everyone!  Exam 4 is scheduled for Thursday, 12/6.  It will cover sections 6.2-6.7, 7.1, 7.2, 7.7 and 8.1-8.3.  The sample exam has some problems from other sections (problems 4, 7 and 9 from exam 4) that you are not responsible for.

Worksheet 9 is due on Tuesday.  This is our last worksheet.

On Friday, I will bring everyone their grade.  If you are happy with it, that is all for you.  If you would like to do better, take the final exam: it will replace your weakest exam score, if it is better.

A worksheet was handed out today, due on Tuesday after Thanksgiving.  If you happen not to be here next week, email me to get it.

Homework is now assigned up to 6.5.

With Exam 3 behind us now, everyone can take a break this weekend.  But think triangular thoughts, as trigonometry is on the way!

Home, 11/2

Exam 3 is scheduled for next Friday, 11/9.  It will cover sections 4.1-4.6,4.8 and 6.1-6.3.  Start studying early, especially since many people have trouble with logarithms.  Don't forget to check out the sample exam from last year, on the "scores and solutions" page.

Homework is assigned up to 4.8.  Solutions of the last worksheet are in the usual place.

Exam 2 turned out rather well.  See statistics and solutions on the "scores and solutions" page.  (I promised the solutions earlier this week, but now I see that you couldn't find them due to an error, on my part, of transferring files to the website.  Things should be working now - let me know if you are having trouble.)

Now that two exams have passed, it's a good idea to check on your progress using the grade computer.  It will give you scores under various scenarios for future exams.  Try it if you haven't already!

Homework is assigned up to 4.4.  We will go up to 6.3 before we have exam 3, which I expect will happen sometime during the week after next.

Exam 2 is scheduled for Wednesday of next week.  It will cover sections 2.2-2.7 and 3.1-3.4.  Worksheet solutions for worksheets 1-4 can be found on the "scores and solutions" page, with worksheet 5 coming next week.  You can find a sample exam 2 on that same page - make sure you try it at home.

I forgot to mention this in class today: look at homework in 3.2.

Home, 10/4

Homework has been assigned up to 2.7.  Expect a worksheet next week.

O
nce we complete section 3.4, it will be time for our second exam.  This should be sometime during the week after next.  More details next week.

Have a good fall break everyone (short as it is)!

Home, 9/28

Homework has been assigned up to 2.4.  Worksheet 4 is due on Wednesday of next week.

With our first exam done, try entering your information into the grade computer to see your overall score in the course!

Exam 1 turned out rather well.  Good job, class!  You can find detailed statistics on the exam, as well as its solutions, on the "scores and solutions" page.  If you haven't done as well as you'd hoped on this exam, consider putting in more time for future exams, or stopping by for office hours.

Homework for the next two chapters is now posted.  Previous homework has moved to guess where.

Home, 9/12

Exam 1, covering chapter 1, will happen late next week (Thursday or Friday): you will be informed of when by the end of this week.  Sample exams are available on the "scores and solutions" page (look at Exam 1).

Solutions of worksheets 1 and 2 are now posted on the "scores and solutions" page as well.

Home, 9/4

Sorry for not updating the website sooner...  but there wasn't much to inform you of, either.  So far, you are responsible for homework up to 1.1.  Worksheet 1 was due on Friday and will be returned Wednesday (tomorrow).

Welcome to the course!  Look around to familiarize yourself with the layout of these webpages.  Note that the most important links at left are highlighted.

These pages will get more content as the semester progresses.  Check back often: useful information is provided in the "home" section (which you are reading), typically updated weekly.  Homework assignments will be updated when we start a new chapter
