Termite Girls
2006
the Fantastic Extravaganza –
EXPRESSED IN STANZA!
From the northeast and the
In
And quickly we bonded – it
was neat!
A Team of Termiters – WE were complete.
On the ferry, our calipers
were thrown over the side-
BY the sailor, who claimed
to be our friendly guide.
In the safari truck we did
ride,
Bumping along, with
merriment we cried.
V.i.e.r.s. was our second home- where
we would stay
Residing on the shores of lameshur bay
Around the campfire we were
heard to say,
“another
s’more if I may?”
Here a termite! there a termite! Everywhere a termite! Termite!
I’ll do the coring, and you
can do the light.
Beware of those workers, they often bite,
Although they are small,
they sure do fight.
In the mangroves, there we
crawled
In the tree branches we were
sprawled.
By thorns, stickers,
branches and termites we were mauled-
“there’s
a termite in my pants!” leah called.
we installed a card shaped
disk in each nest,
Which was our humidity and
temperature test.
By analyzing the highs and
lows of each crest,
We found the climate that
suited each best.
At carnival we had a blast,
Watching the parade march right past-
We hoped the live music
would forever last,
“Oohing” and “aahing” at the fireworks over the mast.
during our free time, we crashed
at the beach,
where amalia
showed us a big sea leech,
“please
help me avoid sunburn” we did beseech-
“slather the spf where i can not reach.”
Cinnamon bay trail- we
annihilated,
Its vertical grades and
steep slopes- our egos were inflated.
by the bay rum trees we were
shaded,
A trip to the smoothie stand
and our soreness soon faded.
After the gathering of
termites took hold,
We started mashing them and
mixing them with mold!
These experiments would reveal
great things we were told,
And the mysteries of
termites we would behold!
