Overview
You will conceive, design, and build a website for an online retail
store (i.e., an "e-storefront").
You may choose an existing small business, but let me know the background
of the business
before proceeding. I'll be introducing you to various guidelines
and resources to help you.
All you need, because no programming experience or web design experience
is required for
this class, is an easy-to-use browser editor that will enable you to
produce HTML documents
that will make up your website. We'll be using Microsoft FrontPage in
class, but if you are
experienced and usually use something else, that is fine. Just be sure your results will work
when you are to present to the class at the end of the semester.
In planning your e-storefront, you should always have in mind the minimum
standards (listed
below) when you design the layout and choose the pictures and other
content for it. A good
way to start is to draw a rudimentary flowchart, with boxes representing
the various pages
that make up your e-store. We will be doing such a diagram in Phase II
of your project.
As I said, I'll be providing other guidelines and design resources during the semester. The
usefulness and logic of some of the minimums will make more sense once we've covered
related material.
